Role Description

The Senior Engineer – Tanks will lead the technical delivery, coordination, and assurance of tank-related systems on major water treatment and process projects. This position requires a high level of engineering competence in tank design, installation, and integration, combined with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients. The Senior Engineer will act as a key technical authority on tanks throughout the project lifecycle, from design development through to commissioning and handover. Underground and above ground tanks.

The hiring process will be conducted in collaboration with Staffpoint Professionals. Initially, you will be employed by Staffpoint (permanent contract). The position involves standard full-time working hours per week. We are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible and is already located in Finland. The position is based in Helsinki.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering review and approval of tank system designs, specifications, and submittals.
  • Provide technical leadership during the planning, installation, and integration of tank systems and associated equipment.
  • Interface with design consultants, internal engineering teams, and subcontractors to ensure coordinated and constructible solutions.
  • Conduct detailed design and constructability reviews of tank layouts, structural supports, access platforms, nozzles, and integration with pipework and instrumentation.
  • Oversee technical compliance with project requirements, industry codes (e.g., EN, ASME), and client specifications.
  • Assist in procurement activities by preparing technical scopes of work and evaluating vendor proposals for tanks and related systems.
  • Support the QA/QC team in defining inspection and test plans (ITPs) and reviewing quality documentation.
  • Attend factory acceptance tests (FATs), site acceptance tests (SATs), and witness critical stages of fabrication and installation.
  • Provide on-site engineering support during installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning phases.
  • Champion health and safety, sustainability, and quality principles across all tank engineering activities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge transfer across the business.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in mechanical/process engineering roles, with at least 3 years focused on tank or pressure vessel systems.
  • Demonstrable expertise in the design, specification, and construction of tanks for industrial or utility-scale facilities.
  • Proficient in interpreting P&IDs, GA drawings, structural layouts, and 3D models.
  • Experience in coordinating with civil, structural, electrical, and controls teams to ensure system integration.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., EN 14015, API 650, ASME VIII).
  • Proven ability to manage technical risk, ensure design integrity, and deliver compliant engineering outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) – essential for technical documentation and cross-functional collaboration.
  • To be eligible, at least one year of your work experience must be from the relevant field in Finland.
