Mechanical Engineer (Fixed-term)
We are looking a Mechanical Engineer for our client Whitewater Group for a 3-month fixed-term employment contract based in Helsinki. The position is available due to an ongoing project, and the successful candidate is expected to start as soon as possible.

The Group is experiencing significant growth driven by its focus on off-site construction methods (OSM) for delivering turnkey projects, reducing on-site construction time to a minimum.
The Opportunity
As Whitewater Group continues to expand internationally across multiple markets, we are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the installation, integration, and commissioning of mechanical systems across modular building and critical infrastructure projects in Finland.
This role will play a key part in overseeing mechanical installation activities within modular buildings, ensuring that systems are delivered in accordance with project specifications, engineering requirements, quality standards, and applicable safety regulations. Working closely with project managers, subcontractors, clients, consultants, and multidisciplinary engineering teams, the successful candidate will support the delivery of mechanical systems throughout the installation and commissioning phases.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented, and technically capable Mechanical Engineer with experience in modular construction, building services, and mechanical installation and commissioning. Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills will be essential, with the ability to work effectively with subcontractors, clients, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor the installation of mechanical pipe connections and associated services.
- Oversee the installation of leak detection, vent, cathodic protection, and secondary containment systems, where applicable.
- Support mechanical fit-out activities within modular buildings.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of HVAC systems.
- Supervise the installation of plumbing and drainage systems.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of mechanical plant and equipment.
- Coordinate mechanical interfaces and connections between modular units and site services.
- Support testing, commissioning, and handover of mechanical systems.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams to ensure mechanical works meet project specifications, quality standards, and programme requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical pipework systems, testing, and commissioning.
- Experience with modular building projects.
- Knowledge of ITP management, quality control, and inspection processes.
- Strong subcontractor coordination and programming skills.
- Good stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to build productive relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Strong conflict resolution and client expectation management skills.
- Fluent in Finnish and English.
- Electrical Safety 6001 certification.
