Translator, English–Finnish (Fixed-Term Project Assignment)

Are you an experienced translator with a passion for technical documentation and a keen eye for detail? We are currently looking for an English–Finnish Translator to join Metso on a long-term industrial project.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of an international project environment where you will work closely with engineers, technical experts, and fellow translators to deliver high-quality technical documentation.

About the Role

As a Translator, your primary responsibility will be translating technical project documentation from English into Finnish while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with approved terminology and documentation standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Translating technical documents from English into Finnish
  • Reviewing, revising, and editing translations to ensure linguistic quality and consistency
  • Maintaining project-specific glossaries, terminology databases, and translation memories
  • Ensuring compliance with customer-approved terminology and project documentation standards
  • Coordinating and performing quality control of outsourced translations
  • Collaborating closely with engineering and project teams on documentation-related matters
  • Performing document formatting and desktop publishing (DTP) activities
  • Contributing to the overall quality and consistency of project deliverables
  • Providing interpretation support in project meetings when needed

This role requires strong collaboration skills and a proactive mindset, as you will regularly interact with engineers and technical specialists to clarify terminology and technical content.

What We Are Looking For

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Excellent command of English
  • Native-level or near-native proficiency in Finnish
  • Experience in technical translation within industrial or engineering projects
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Translation, Linguistics, Languages, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent expertise gained through extensive professional translation experience
  • Experience using computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools, ideally RWS Trados Studio
  • Strong understanding of technical terminology and documentation practices
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • The ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines

Considered an Advantage

  • Experience in the minerals, mining, process, energy, or other heavy-industry sectors
  • Technical or engineering educational background
  • Experience working in project-based organizations
  • Desktop publishing (DTP) skills
  • Experience with terminology management and translation memory systems

Team and Working Environment

You will become part of an experienced translation team of approximately eight professionals. The role involves close cooperation with project engineers, delivery teams, customer, partners, and other translators. We offer a collaborative and supportive working environment with regular meetings and opportunities to work alongside experienced language and technical professionals.

  • Fixed-term full-time project assignment with a minimum duration of 12 months
