WOW-e project

There is an urgent need to address low-skilled migrant women´s challenges to access education and labor market. The participating countries share common challenges: migrant women are more often outside of workforce or in precarious jobs compared to migrant men, and host country nationals.

The project tackles challenges that migrant women are facing across the Europe to access education and labor market. These are among other insufficient skills recognition processes and tools, lack of social networks, challenges combining work and family life, and insufficient worklife capabilities.

The population is ageing, and the European labor market needs urgently new workers in many fields. The WOW-e project invites employers in closed collaboration to find new solutions to recruit migrant women and build-up more diverse working environments.

🎯 Objective

The overall aim of the WOW-E-project is to increase low-skilled migrant women´s capabilities and opportunities to access education and labor market.

The objective will be reached by skills assessment and capacity building of migrant women, and in collaboration with employers by providing them possibilities to find new solutions to recruit migrant women and invest in more diverse and non-discriminatory working envinronments.

💯 Impact

On national and international level, the long-term impact is increased awareness of importance of needs-based services for migrant women to ensure their and entrance in education and employment.


The project was carried out from February 1, 2022, to October 31, 2024, with ERASMUS+ funding as part of the 2021–2027 programme period.

Project Implementation

The WOW-e project was a European cooperation initiative aimed at supporting immigrant women in a disadvantaged position in the labour market towards employment. The main coordinator was Spring House, with partners including experts from Germany, France, Iceland, and Portugal. The project developed an operational model that took into account both immigrant women and employers. At the same time, it increased understanding of European tools for skills recognition and ways to promote employer receptiveness. The project produced concrete solutions to support employment in different countries and work-life contexts.

We are strongly connected to the adult education, Finnish employment sector, to job-seekers, employees, as well as enterprises, moreover employers.Annually, we help 20 000 job-seeker to find a suitable employment and career path in a field of sector of all ranges. We do matching between the job-seeker and employer.

Spring House is part of StaffPoint Group, StaffPoint being one of the biggest employers in 10 different sectors in Finland.

working world closer together. Currently, the association employs 159 qualified professionals and operates within different brands.

Bildungsmarkt e.V. was founded in 1986 as a private non-profit organization with the goal of actively promoting vocational training and social integration for disadvantaged groups, including people with refugee background. In the course of its existence it has founded four – also non-profit companies based on the principle of the “Social Company”. The consortium employs around 300 persons, mainly pedagogical staff, and works with around 2000 learners per year in

various programmes. Bildungsmarkt provides vocational training in the trades and industry, in the service sector, and in the educational and health care sector.

SPX Consult GmbH from Germany

spx consult GmbH is a labor market and education policy service company, founded in 1991 and based in Berlin. The main areas of work include vocational orientation and preparation, vocational training, labour market policy and integration. In our interface function, we are the point of contact for a wide range of stakeholders, including general

education and vocational schools, educational service providers and companies, as well as academic institutions. We have 30 years of experience in the implementation of corresponding federal, national and European funding programmes. Our core competences include concept development and implementation, consulting, the coordination of networks as well as the design and conduction of workshops and training sessions.

ACCENTONIC from France

Accentonic

Accentonic is an NGO specializing in adult training. We train people in socio-professional integration looking for work or in employment. Our areas of intervention are French for work, general French, key competencies (numeracy, French language, office automation, etc.). We prepare people for various French language diplomas, general basic skills and/or adapted to the cleaning and food-processins sectors . We fight against situations of illiteracy and help people find work, progress professionally, have more confidence, become independent, feel more integrated in France. Our team is made up of 8 people on permanent contracts, including 6 trainers. We train around 500 people per year.

MIMIR-SIMENNTUN EHF from Iceland

Mímir-símenntun is Iceland’s largest lifelong learning centre. Mímir offers various courses i.e., Icelandic as a second language, primary- and secondary school level courses and job-related courses in Adult Education programs. Also, study- and career counselling and validation of formal, non-formal and informal learning is big part of Mímir’s operation. Our main goal is providing educational opportunities for adults with short formal education with the aim to improve peoples’ skills and strengthen their situation in the labour market.
